Kenyatta briefed on South Sudan peace process

 

Nairobi, 2 August (SUNA)  –  The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday received a detailed briefing on the peace talks between south Sudanese rivals, hosted by the Sudan under the umbrella of the IGAD

The Sudanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, paid a visit to the Kenyan town of Mobassa where he was received by president Uhuru in the presence of Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr Juma

The Minister for Foreign Affairs also presented an invitation from President Omar Bashir to president Uhuru to take part in the ceremony marking the signing of the peace agreement between the rival south Sudanese on August the 5th, 2018

President Uhuru commended the role played by the Sudan and that of president Omar Bashir in particular in achieving peace in South Sudan. He also expressed his gratitude for the invitation received to attend the event and voiced his keenness to answer the generous invitation .
