Collo Global Action (CGA) Press Release

Collo Global Action (CGA)

For Immediate Release

May 13, 2021

No Makal County without Malakal town

The Collo and the peace-loving people of Upper State and entire South Sudan heard in disbelief and shock the statements and remarks made on March 12, 2021, by the South Sudanese Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Lomoro who shamefully tried to justify the unjustifiable to cover up the real plot and motive behind his statements that refer to detaching Malakal from Makal County.  As if speaking to aliens who know nothing about Malakal as a Collo/Shilluk town built on Collo ancestral land, the Minister, clearly a “good boy” of the tribal land grabbers, tried to mislead the public into believing that there are differences in meaning between Makal and Malakal.

The Collo Global Action rejects and condemns in no uncertain terms this tribally motivated decision to grab Malakal from its indigenous people, the Collo/Shilluk.  We would like to draw the attention of Collo and the peace-loving of South Sudan that attempts by the evil tribal axis to use the central government to force Collo out from Malakal shall not succeed because it is an attack on the inalienable rights of the Collo people.  It is an attack on peaceful coexistence among the residents of the Upper Nile State.  It’s a violation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).  It’s an attack on the unity of the people of South Sudan.

The truth is that as a name and location there is no difference between Makal and Malakal.  Makal is simply the Collo/Shilluk indigenous name for Malakal. That might sound confusing to Dr. Martin Lomoro but not to the indigenous. If Dr. Martin Lomoro wanted to clear the so-called naming confusion then why detach Malakal town from Makal county and why relocate the county capital to Wau-Shilluk?

This conspiracy to grab Collo land east bank of the White Nile in Upper State is a known Apandang’s objective supported by the Jieng Council of Elders and executed by president Kiir. It is part of a broader objective by this tribal axis to create a tribally dominated republic in South Sudan.

CGA calls on the first Vice president Dr. Riek Machar and Governor Budhok Ayang to reverse this so-called agreement and distance themselves from such land-grabbing conspiracies. Governor Budhok should do justice to the residence of Makal County by protecting the tribal boundaries as they stood on 1/1/1956. Collo will not hand their ancestral land to the Apadang in a golden plate.  Malakal town can host the municipality, county, and state headquarters as is the case in Juba and Wau towns. May God helps South Sudan.
