A South Sudanese family was injured in an attack by insurgents in the city of Kampala
A group of criminals attacked a family from south Sudan resident in the Ugandan capital Kampala on Sunday night, seriously injuring three family members.
Garwij Kwang, a member of the family, said in a statement on Monday that four gunmen attacked his family on Sunday morning at about 4 am, causing the father and mam of the family and their daughter serious injuries to the head and limbs, revealing that the perpetrators Lazo escaped without arrest .
Kwang said the injured family members were taken to the hospital in Kampala for treatment and that they had informed police and investigations were still ongoing.
For his part, activist Terje called on the Ugandan authorities to protect and provide security for the citizens of south Sudan residing in Kampala, expressing regret for what happened.
“We are in the hospital and we feel the pain of what happened to that family, so the Ugandan authorities must provide security for the southerns,” he said.
