South Sudan Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha

Muslims in south Sudan celebrated Eid al-Adha on Tuesday, amid calls for peace and reconciliation among the country’s people.

Thousands of Muslims celebrated in the capital, Juba, in Zahra Square, in the presence of a number of government officials.

Salah Rajab Bwandi, Minister of Information in the State of Jubik, stressed the importance of unity among the people of South Sudan, especially the Muslim community. The official called on the Muslim community in the country to contribute to bringing peace and stability.

For his part, Abdullah Borg, Secretary General of the Islamic Council of Southern Sudan, praised President Salva Kiir’s efforts to achieve peace in the country. He called on the leaders to put the public interest first before personal interests.
